This website describes a project between Christopher Newport University's Institute for Science Education (CISE) and 3 local school divisions. Graduate courses incorporating appropriate content and strategies will be offered for teachers of 4th and 5th grade students - especially from schools which fell below the mark on SOL tests in Science. Project directors are Dr. Randy Caton and Dr. S. Raj Chaudhury working with Newport News Public Schools, Hampton City Schools and Portsmouth Public Schools.
Teachers from private schools and other school divisions are welcome to apply:
(1) Priority is given to teachers from NNPS, HCS & PPS
(2) An administrator must be willing to meet the other partnership criteria (e.g. commitment to follow up and cost-sharing of graduate tuition).
